distributed rendering more than 10 nodes

I have two licences and dongles. One license and dongle installed on two workstations. I am unable to add the 11th node when submitting a distributed rendering job. I have both of my licences available in my client license settings on all machines.

I’m using 1.5 SP2, VIZ 2008 XP pro.

attach both dongle to one pc runing the license manager
spot the other workstation to the IP in charge

Thanks I’ll give that a try.

Don’t OS’s have a limit of 10 consecutive connections? Only way around is to use a server OS.

Is this still the case? Even if you use the patch?

I think this concerns only file sharing connections; V-Ray DR uses TCP/IP as the network protocol and you can certainly have more than 10 of these at the same time.

So that would mean you could use more than 10, without server-OS, if you make sure that a maximum of 10 nodes point to the same share for textures etc.

For example: a copy of the resources/textures on the 11th node could then be shared for the next 10 nodes. UNC-paths can’t be used then, you need to use mapped drives.

maped drives are bad!
in taht case u should probably save the files into each node…
c:\work\maps

true, better

I was gonna ask this in a different thread, but its not too far off topic.

does 1 licence = 10 nodes (ie 1 quadcore = 4 nodes or 1 IP = 1 node) ?

Raj

1IP = 1 Node. Number of processors or cores doesn’t matter .

thanks for that:

excellent news.
Now all I need is a transputer array and I’m set.

quick renders, and nothing to eat. :frowning:

You just need to set up a license server and put both licenses on one dongle. Then you can use 20 nodes.
