ive noticed over the last few months, 3DS max hangs and freezes when i try and close it down. It also happens sometimes when i press File>New. this also happens on a new machine in which i installed it on - just wondering if this was happening to anyone else?
Yes, noticed this too, sometimes pretty brutal 5 minutes easily on heavy scene. My workstation is 2023.1 (can’t update because I need the features to be exactly in this rev).
I haven’t updated 3dsMax, I only keep updating Corona, and I would say it’s Corona as well but I don’t have time to investigate.
AMD cpu in your PC, when saving out before closing (Known problem, they are currently looking for a solution)
Or, Your scene is esponentially filling with hidden NoteTracks (also a known problem, yet to find a solution).
With the former, AMD problem, there is nothing you can do.
But with the latter, you can run some maxscript to clear out the NoteTracks:
They come in when merging xRefs into Max Scenes, and a few other ways.
But they tend to fill up some peoples scenes, ADSK are yet to find out properly why.
Sometimes there’s millions of them. They can hyperinflate your scene too, in to the GBs in size.
I doubt it’s just that. First, it happens in same way on my Threadrippers, Xeons, Xeons-W and Intel-HX laptops.
Second, I have clear note-tracks as part of my start-up scripts, I haven’t had them in years.
The slow-down for me started happening in past 6 months +/- I would say, or even later, since Winter?
Either Corona build, Licence server, or Windows 11 update crap again.
