No file is being written during rendering and I’m also getting crashes.

Are you rendering Deep exrs?

No. but 32 bit is checked (the left most checkbox when entering file and folder).

If you can, try adaptive sampling instead…

I think I might have to for my next job. Too many issues with Progressive it seems. Although it’s great when it works. There’s another better thread on this here by the way:

Svetlozar got involved and hopefully we can find a fix.

It seems EXR doesn’t work but VRIMG does…

Out of interest, why do you tick this?

Isn’t it there to allow the file to be 32-bit? I think that’s why I check it. For me it has far greater control for re-exposing.

There’s a difference between 32 bit integer and 32bit float
You shouldn’t have to tick that box, it just creates a much larger vrimg file than what you actually need.

Do a quick test and see. UNTICK that on a simple scene and you’ll notice on photoshop your file’s mode IS 32 bit and you can use your exposure like you want to (and the VRIMG file should be much smaller)
Thorsten explained it very nicely a few times in his posts (they cool guy from Mackevision). Do a search, I don’t have the specific threads on hand at the moment

Very interesting thank you. Had a feeling it was something I didn’t need to worry about.
