exploding splash particles

hi there,

it’s david from pixelschmiede, the brother of manuel

i have a big problem, first of all i use always the latest nightly builds of phoenix fd, so it can’t be there to search. i make a some kind of river, waterfall scene. it worked weel, but suddenly i have exploding splashes in my scene, i tweaked every parameter nothing helps. i have enough direct smooth quality 70 and spf flip particles 6. finally i make a highend scene. thanks for help. kind regards david

Hello, please send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com.

ok i uploaded it to support, thanks

Okay, it looks like an issue with the FLIP solver. The problem is not with the splashes, they just make it visible that some of the FLIP particles suddenly gain a lot of velocity.

Please roll back to the classic advection method until it is resolved. We will update you, but it will take several days.

Thanks for reporting that!

ok, thank you for your reply and feedback. i have to say i love the flip solver. i will stick to it because classic advection is to slow and i never get the same quality and mesh. i disclaim now the splashes and reuse them when the problem is solved. phoenix fd is a great piece of software. fast, precise and fully integrated in max. for me far better than realfow wich i use also.

bye david

i tested the scene simulating with classic advection… still have jumping splashes as hell. in this case it can’t be only the flip solver???

Did you change any other options, apart from the advection method? I am testing with your scene and cannot reproduce anything with classic advection.

well, hopefully we will fix the issue in few days and you will be able to use the flip solver to finish your sim
