Hello,
I am currently using SketchUp Pro 2023 along with the latest version of V-Ray 7. I recently attempted to render a project via Chaos Cloud. Upon completion, the render output was available for download in EXR format. However, when I try to load the EXR file in V-Ray, it fails to open and remains stuck in an indefinite loading state.
Could you please advise if there is a solution or workaround for this issue?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Dear @pak_ade , hello.
Welcome to Chaos Forums!
I am looking at your Cloud job now.
The EXR is opening in Chaos Player successfully and after some slight delay it is loaded in VFB too.
I suspect that the 57 Individual lights passes for Light Mix are causing the delay.
But please wait a little bit and confirm is the EXR loaded successfully on your side as well.
Best,
TS
Hello Ms/Mrs Girginova.
Thank you for the information. I’m currently trying to render a new file on the Cloud.
By the way, every time I finish uploading a SketchUp file, a “WARNING” message appears along with a list of files from my PC.
Do you know what might be causing this? I usually ignore it and just click “CONTINUE” — will this have any effect on the file being rendered on the Cloud?
Hi,
Please attach a screenshot of it when you see it next time.
Sounds like inability to find some textures/assets, but we need to look at it.
In general, warnings want to point you out important things ")
Please find the attached screenshots of errors. These all originate from a single SketchUp file. There are still 3 more screenshots, but I can’t upload them because I’ve reached the limit
Thank you for the screenshots!
Before submitting to Chaos Cloud, if you go to Extensions > V-Ray > File Path Editor, do you see any asset marked with yellow or red square?
In addition, when performing a local render, do you see any warning about missing textures in the V-Ray Log?
Based on the SketchUp file I tried to render on Chaos Cloud yesterday, the File Path Editor shows boxes in green, yellow, and red (please see attachments: image 1 and image 2).
If a box appears yellow or red, what should I do to fix it?
Using the same SketchUp file, I also tried rendering it locally (I apologize, the render is not yet complete as my PC takes around 3–4 hours to finish the process).
However, I’ve attached a partial screenshot of the log that appeared during the local render (plase see attachment: image 3).
Okay, thank you.
It is not a Chaos Cloud issue then.
As listed in our documentation:
Green – The file is available and its path is visible by V-Ray.
Yellow – The file is available, but is embedded in a temporary cache file.
Red – The file is missing or inaccessible.
If you know where to find these files on your PC/server, you could use Repath and point the directory where they are stored.
If you are exchanging files or assets with colleagues and you are not working on a shared server to store the data, best will be to use Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project to archive all the data and to send it/receive it that way.
In the list of red ones I see also Cosmos materials, so they could be downloaded and then by using Repath you could point out where to be loaded from (your Cosmos directory).
But as far as I see from the early stage the render looks fine.
Good practice is to render locally the scene as a test (even with lower settings or resolution) in order to understand is everything loaded properly and is it meeting your expectations or not.
Then submit to Chaos Cloud and examine the final result.
Hope that everything is explained well. If not - share your thoughts/questions.

What is the purpose of the Pack Project feature? At our office, we don’t use a dedicated server; instead, we use Synology to store each team member’s project files. To accelerate the rendering process, it’s common for one person to use multiple PCs
Pack Project allows you to create a Zip file that contains the .skp file and all the assets used in the file (textures, environment maps, proxies, etc).
On one side, you may share files with other companies - for example Chaos.
Having the full information is crucial to reproduce certain behaviour, investigate and solve a bug, for example.
On the other - it is a way to archive the project with all assets and no matter how the library or storage system changes, unzipping this archive will give you the final result right away
Each professional has his own business scale and workflow, this is just an option.
After using the Pack Project feature in SketchUp, the project is saved as a ZIP file. Can this ZIP file be uploaded directly to Chaos Cloud? Additionally, if this ZIP file is shared with another user, can it be opened directly in the V-Ray Frame Buffer (VFB), or does it need to be extracted first? If extraction is necessary, which file should the user open?
Chaos Cloud operates with VRScene files. When submitting to the Cloud, VRScene is exported and loaded there.
VRScene is a universal Chaos format - no matter which integration the file comes from, it is loaded for Cloud rendering or can be used with V-Ray Standalone.
The archive contains the .skp file + all textures or external assets. It should be extracted to open the .skp, yes.
The other user will open .skp as an usual work file for SketchUp and in File Path Editor all textures and assets will be located in the very same folder (where the extractions was made).
To open something in VFB directly it should be a rendered image (best VRImg or other).
Hope it is much clearer now.
