Feedback on the New Vantage 3.0 UI

I just wanted to share some feedback on the new Vantage UI. In my opinion, it’s a big step backward in usability. The new interface feels confusing and unintuitive, and it’s definitely less user-friendly. Replacing icons with text makes it feel overwhelming, rigid, and a bit old-fashioned. It also wastes a lot of space, and some buttons are placed in awkward spots.

The previous UI was clean, compact, intuitive, and minimalist. Overall, a great design. I hope future updates can bring back some of those qualities that made it so easy and enjoyable to use.

had a chance to work with Vantage yesterday after some breaka and its very confusing now.

And to counter that, albeit from someone who hasn’t used 2.x more than the trial, I felt like the 3.0 UI refresh felt better. It started to feel more like a proper 3D software instead of a “Click here to get something pretty” guide. It’s still not perfect and has some issues, but personally I like this direction.

Just updated and, yes initially it’s a bit much. But I got used to it after a day of using it on my projects.

Chiming in to say that’s the exact reason I downgraded from 3.0.2 to 2.8.1.

This is why I stuck with 2.8.1. The icon-driven toolbar, compact side panels (Camera on the left, Environment/Sky/Sun/Wind/Fog on the right), and the unobtrusive render popover keep the viewport front and center. It’s fast, compact, and logically grouped. The new text-heavy layout buries simple actions, wastes space, and slows me down. Please bring back an icon-first, compact mode (or a density toggle) so power users aren’t penalized.

Very much agree with this. New UI feels more professional/sophisticated. Render Queue could use some more attention however.

Agree! I don’t like the 3.0 UI.
From 1.x to 2.0, I quickly adapted to the new UI in less than 1 day and felt comfortable with it.
From 2.x to 3.0, after using it for more than 1 week, I still wasn’t used to it.

and it’s a bit awkward to hold down the arrow keys to change the parameters here.
