( fixed ) [ HOU-2616 ] Swimming textures

I guess I’m missing something pretty straightforward with Vray but for the sake of me, I can’t figure out how to make my textures not swim. This is my shading network.
I tried different configurations on how to make this work but with no luck. I’m using the GPU render. I’m using the rest attrib as well. If someone has an example file or please advise. Thanks.

Im using Vray 5.10.20 Update 1 Houdini 18.5.596

In redshift, I can just use the reference object and if I have @rest redshift recognized and it works without too much trouble.
I tried to use the “reference transform” in the tri-planar which asks for geo I’m guessing, which isn’t super useful (I which you could just enter the rest attrib there instead) I tried that and I couldn’t make it work either. I’m really struggling here to understand this simple task in Vray GPU

Try this V-Ray for Houdini

Attached a quick demo scene. The actual scene I cant upload since is a working scene but this shows the issue that I’m having.
I tried your suggestion before as well @bdancer and I couldn’t make it work. There is an RS file there and if you guys have the demo it should work right away.

Here are 2 gifs

Redshift

triplanar.zip (1.17 MB)

Unfortunately, ref. mesh has to be implemented for GPU… I’ll try to check how much time this could take asap…

Can you guys please put this in high priority, I’m on a current job trying to use this. And I’m using vray cloud I have already a bunch of credits so I would highly appreciate it if this is fixed urgently. Thank you!

Hi, just checking to see if there is gonna be any luck on this getting it somewhat quickly or I will have to think about something else.

Thanks

If isn’t too much trouble can I get a simple answer, please? I just really would like to know if this will be solved relatively soon in like a week or is gonna take months. Thanks again.

Hey @hsz ,

The developer working on this says the feature should be ready by the end of the week. It will require some extra effort on our end to sync it with the V-Ray for Houdini builds so I’d say next Monday should be a reasonable timeframe. Does that work for you?

Best regards!

Thank you for the response! I can wait until next monday.

I test the nightly build from today and the triplanar bug still happening. Just wondering if this will get fix this week? Thanks!

Any update on this one?

Trying this again on today’s nightly, still, the triplanar bug is present, Can I please get an update? thanks

Im still getting the same bug with the nightly from last Friday? @Gosho.Genchev you mentioned this will get fix 2 weeks ago? Can I get an update, please, Thanks

The code is still under review…

Hi, Any progress here? it has been quite a bit since I reported this bug… thanks

Hi I have to bring this up again, I reported this back in June we are in September. You mentioned that this will get solve in a couple of weeks. I just would like to know if Chaos is taking GPU/RTX seriously or not, if not please just let us know so we can move forward a different solution.
THanks

> You mentioned that this will get solve in a couple of weeks.

Well it apparently will take more time. Code is almost ready.

Dear hsz, hello.

The fix will be available tomorrow in the nightlies section.
I have just tested your scene and could approve that it is working, see here.

Final count till tomorrow and they will swim only in the right direction.
Thank you for reporting it.

Enjoy V-Ray.

Awesome! Thanks a lot to the team for fixing this bug.

We all are happy to help!
