FrameBuffer - Composition layer tab

Something like Photoshop blend layers. Imagine a rawlight as softlight, enhancing the shadows on render. Must be easy to create. Blend + opacity.

Vray light mix tamb?m, se vray 4.0 n?o conseguir isso, eu n?o vou atualizar e vou migrar para Corona.

We are working on some updates to the V-Ray frame buffer that would potentially allow us to do this.

Vlado

I remember hearing about this major VFB update quite some time ago - could you give an estimate on the progress?

Yes, will record a short video on this.

Best regards,
Vlado

Vladimir Nedev recorded a short preview of his work so far:

There is still some months of work to be done though.

Vlado

Well, wow.
It went ahead a wee bit since the last time i saw it…
Nuke watch out, we’re coming! XD

Awesome!!!

Wow, that looks like a lot of features…
Can you make sure to test the new VFB for use with super high resolitions (10k and above) and a dozen of render elements? To make sure that it still is smooth and responsive?

Wow that’s quite extensive

I’m not sure anything short of a proxy system (a-la nuke, f.e., where the processing happens for the visible pixels, not for the source images) would be able to maintain speed and responsiveness as the number of pixels grew (squarely, at that).
Which would be awesome to have. XD

You mean navigating a high res image inside the new VFB will be slower then before?

For now, the new VFB works like the current one, it applies the color corrections to only the visible pixels.
So, the resolution of the image you are rendering doesn’t actually matter.
What matters is the size of the VFB window itself, and how much you are zoomed-in.

You mean navigating a high res image inside the new VFB will be slower then before?

Even with the current VFB, you can make panning quite slow if you enable all the color corrections.
With the new one, you are free to add as many layers as you want, so we will have to develop a system to calculate the layers in a background thread.

Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev

This looks incredibly advanced already and I am looking forward to using it! Nice work!

Thanks for the clarification, Vladimir. Looking forward to what you come up with!

And to add to what the excellent Vlado said, i purely meant that if you process (even panning without any CC) 1 MPx, and you process 100MPx, you can’t expect performance to stay constant, it will have to degrade.
The “proxy” trick is to essentially keep processing 1MPx in a 100MPx image (purely a figure of speech, yes?), by taking into account only what is actually visible, or the canvas, rather than the image, resolution.
Simple to say, not so simple to properly implement.

This!! Awesome. Would be even better with either vector or paint-able masks! But very cool as it is.

Hope we can select by mask (wirecolor, objectid)…in VBF and we will don’t need photoshop for simple post production
P/s: Can we have viggeting in VBF ? Because we can’t adjustment it after render with camera viggeting.
