from new max 2009 materials to vray...

Well ,

I know vlado has supposed somewhere, he could make a script, to transform easyly max new pro-materials to vray materials…

Well the workflow of revit to max seems good for many situations, expect of the materials and mental ray.

so a script that would transfer pro materials, maybe also the whole scenesetup to a vray conform setup would be a real nice thing…

Tom

Yep, like I said, this is coming.

Best regards,
Vlado

Vlado, you planning to :
1) covert the material to support vray?
2) write maxscript to convert the material
3) create custom materials like the new ones?

also do you plan to include a sample in the sdk for a converted material?

Most likely, V-Ray will internally convert the materials to V-Ray materials and render them directly, without the need to modify the scene. As such, there will be no need for extra conversion.

Vlado

good news, so this means that this feature will be part of the SP2 (…20 april)?

well cheers then  nice news

No, I don’t think we will manage it for SP2… there are 14 or so ProMaterials, so that will take a while to implement and test all of them. However, once this is done, we will post the update immediately.

Best regards,
Vlado

Will the conversion also convert lights (sun/sky) and perhaps cameras ?

If you want it, it can be done

Best regards,
Vlado

Yes, Please!

maybe the converter can have a check box look to it to ask you what you want converted

I understand that you wouldn’t “convert” anything, internally converting them would mean that they just work properly with VRay, no visible conversion needed.

By the way.. the convert to vray scene script is crashing very often..

are the pro materials really that great? I have seen the demo…nothing special to me…Waste of time imo to implement them. I understand that it has to be done, because majority will ask for it, but still.

qutoded for agreement!

As I understand Revit models will have pro materials applied on import replacing the native materials, handy I guess if that is your workflow.

yes…handy.
but as far as i ve seen the pro textures for revit don t seem that pro:roll: and i d rather see chaosgroup to spend that time on other tools IMHO

Well , I also think, the Pro Materials only should be there for a starting point…

I like the option to render them directly, but when we come to the point to do a real good material, i would love the option,

to convert them to real vray materials.

would this be an option Vlado, i would prefer it this way…
