Frosted glass

Hi, does anyone have suggestions for a good way to make frosted glass, light blue in colour…

@seanociara , there was a great little guide shared by one of our advanced Enscape users regarding creating frosted glass in this there here. You may want to still play with the color of course if you don’t want the white look, but perhaps this allows you to create results closer to what you imagine ideally.

Is this good enough:

It uses a noise map (attached) as a displacement, you can then fiddle with the material colour/transparency to get what you want.

The smaller you make the mapping the finer grain the displacement will become.

Many thanks Paul, I’ll try that.

Bonus use of that noise map:

If you use it as a displacement on a rug/carpet it does a nice job of looking like pile. I use a displacement of 0.4 and a fixed size of 0.5m x 0.5m.

The default frosted transparent material works better than it used to : You can control how blurry it is using the “roughness” parameter.

That is just a thin box with the same material painted on all external and internal faces.
