GeoSplat Studio V5

Something I have been working on recently.

:globe_showing_americas: GeoSplat Studio — Help & Reference:

What this tool does:

GeoSplat automates the full pipeline from location to finished 3D Gaussian Splat (.ply). You pick a location on the map, click GO, and the pipeline runs without further input. Cesium capture — headless Chromium orbits your location using Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, screenshotting one frame per position. COLMAP SfM — Structure-from-Motion extracts a point cloud from those frames. Brush 3DGS training — trains a 3D Gaussian Splat model on the COLMAP output. Output — output\point_cloud.ply ready to import into 3ds Max / Corona

Nice

That looks great.

To recap, please correct me if I’m wrong: you choose a location and as output you get a point cloud that can be used in 3ds Max to create aerial views like the one in your example video?

Are there any limitations to your script/plugin (e.g. locations that don’t work)?
Do you sell it?
Is there a trial version available?

Thanks for sharing

nice, looking forward to that.
Now corona just need to support GI and Light affecting guassian splats (like in octane)

Yup, exactly that.

Hi Tom, No limitations afaik for now, you can grab a splat anywhere in the world.
No trial version. I need to spend a few more days fixing it up a bit, then I’ll put it up on Gumroad.
I added a live preview last night, so when you drop your camera target, change the radius and ‘drone’ camera tilt, you can see a live preview of the capture area. There are transport buttons to play the flight-path, so you can see what it will capture, before capturing the area.
I just need to make it more ‘portable’ so as all you need for use is contained in the project folder with no additional installs.

I should have it ready in a few days.

Best regards,

Yup, I’m finding it hard to get the splat and the 3DSMax models (that are sat into it) at the same lighting, it’s tricky.
Also I found that when using a Corona Sky in the Environment slot, it can bleed through the splat and make it look terrible.
The solution seems to be to have a black plane underneath the splat, so if any light leaks through it’s black instead of white.

Best regards,

Released today:

GeoSplat - Map Location to Gaussian Splat PLY Automator

The current Gaussian Splat blending parameters already in Corona 14.1 can lead to some nice results.
In conjunction with my Sky Pre-set manager.

Coming together nicely.

Fable 5 is truly a beast of a coding engine.

Capture quality of V5 can be seen here:

I just completed this scan now with V5. It’s 30% - 40% better quality than V4 of GeoSplat. New version named to SuperSkySplat V5.

If you open the link make sure to fullscreen the scan, then choose ‘Orbit Camera’ tool from the floating toolbar. This is a full-size, to scale, 800m Gaussian Splat. Zooming with the scroll wheel in the wrong tool will move the camera very slowly.
