I am not seeing that one, I am seeing vray_adv_25501_max2015_x64_25330
Okay, it’s not a nightly; it’s a stable release. i’ll try that one. However, wouldn’t the nightly be newer and include the fix? Anyway, I guess I’ll find out. Thanks for the help.
You should look in https://nightlies.chaosgroup.com/.
I did, but the number mentioned is in the stable folder; I tried the latest nightly, but it failed.
The support for Nvidia Maxwell has been added since two months in the 2.x nightly builds.
Did you try with one very simple scene ? Does it crashes again ? Maybe the crash is related to this specific scene.
I had it as a service. I removed it as a service and launched it manually; it stopped crashing. I’ll test it out this way and report back.
I’ve verified that it is working fine both in the nightly and in the stable.
You can’t run any GPU application as a service - this limitation is not caused by V-Ray, it is just how GPUs and Windows work.
If you have any troubles, it would be best to provide the log from the V-Ray console itself (thus we can tell what is wrong easily).
Best,
Blago.
you got it, thanks!
it’s differently when I rotate my HDRI. The second I rotate, RT crashes. I have to rotate, crash, render, rotate, crash, render…
Can you try with the 3.1 release that’s on the website?
Best regards,
Vlado
I am on v2.5
It might be a good idea to run the test with the 3.1 demo version.
Will it mess up my current version install?
Yes, unless you install it on a separate 3DSMax version.
It is not possible to install multiple versions of the same plugin per single 3DSMax installation.
is there limitations on the demo?
Here are the limitations of the demo version:
- produces watermarked images
- does not support Distributed Rendering
- resets the settings regularly
There is also resolution limitation of Active Shade and Progressive Image Sampler.
I think it is 320x240 for ActiveShade and 600x450 for Progressive Sampler but I am not quite sure in these numbers.
