Gtx 970

Just purchased and installed a new NVIDIA GTX 970. But it’s not working. When I try to use ActiveSahde, V-Ray Standalone crashes. I am running 3DS MAX 2015. I tried CPU, which works, but doesn’t update in realtime and I tried both GPU options, which causes the crash.

Did you try installing new GPU drivers, picking up GPU in device list for vray, reimstalling vray?

I installed the driver and picked in VRay’s list, but no, I didn’t re-install V-Ray.

You need nightly build for the 970 to work with V-Ray (or to wait until the next service pack).

How do I get a nightly build?[quote=“Raven, username:Raven”]

You have to drop a mail to support@chaosgroup.com and they will sort that out.

Done, thanks!

I haven’t heard back from sales. How long should it take to get a reply from them?[quote=“joconnell, post:2, topic:46255, username:joconnell”]

Sorry about that, they are quite busy from time to time.
They will contact you as soon as possible.

Not a problem, thanks.

Hi Bobby,

Your ticket is in the sales department queue and they will reply to you very soon.
Thank you for your patience.

Thanks! I purchase the card for a project that I am on, so I am excited to use some RT muscle.

Got it, thanks!

Starts to work, but them crashes.

Is there any error in the RT console?
A scene file that reproduce it will be very helpful to find what is going on there.

All scenes crash and I have tried CPU, and both the GPU options. The dump file is over two gigs, so I can’t sent it.

Also, in the nightly, I don’t see MAX 2015. I installed a nightly for yesterday, which I thought was 2015, but I don’t see it now.

You have to see what are the errors in the VRay console. This console is running as a separate vray.exe process every time you start the RT engine.

Also, are you sure you have installed the correct version, it should be named something like /vray_adv_30008_max2015_x64_25280.rar

Well, I am still on 2.0, so I am seeing vray_adv_25501…

Okay, is it named vray_adv_25001_max2015_x64_25111.rar ?
If so, check the installed version and the console output for errors … It will help us to track down the issue.

I am pretty sure we’ve added the Maxwell support a while ago. In the worst case, we still have not (I am not in the office right now and I can’t check at the moment. If it is so, we will fix that asap).
