HDRi test scene

Hey there!

I would like to show you something I’ve done over the weekend.
This was ment to be a test scene for my HDRi maps I’ve done using 8mm Sigma lens on my canon 5d mk2.
Please take a look and let me know your thoughts.

here is the HDRi spherical enviro map :

I took the photograpy on July 20th 10:20am Northern Hemisphere.

Hope you like it.

Thanks to Peter Guthrie for inspiration on creating HDRi`s

Cheers!

nice environment. I like the grass very much, too!

Great image… I always have trouble with the grass and end up PS’ing it in… Lack of work makes my imagery suffer.. LOL… good stuff..

Looks great! Agree about the nice grass, also the trees look quite good. Very nice test image…

The gras contains 3 kinds of plants and here is a closeup glorybound :

Eric you need to train your 3d muscles all the time

voltron7 the trees are modeled using GrowFX.

Thank you guys!

Cheers!

Best grass to-date!

Grass is awesome!

Although the house is looking flat & lifeless…
IMO you might want to spend more time on the house materials as I’m sure your client is not selling grass…unless of cousre they are a drug dealer…lmao.

Cheers

Fortunetly for me all my clients are dope dealers … O_o
As I mentioned above, it is a test scene done in one day … cuz only weekends I had some spare time to do something else than boring arch vis for a comptetition ect.

Out of curiosity… How much is the render time impact for that grass?

not much it renders preaty fast, faster than displacement grass and takes only about 1,5gb of ram.

LMAO…nice sense of humor…which well all NEED in this industry to keep us sane!!

The lighting from the HDRI looks great, I wish I had that camera

great stuff there!!! congrats!

may i ask what have you used for the grass scatering?

Thanks

Thanks Martin!
I’ve used GroundWiz, has a friendly UI. You take a brush and just paint the grass wherever you want.

here is another quick project for a local developer:

Let me know what you think.

lit just by HDRI or with vray sun as well?

Both Vray sun and hdri Martin

Lucas,

I’ve been wanting to shoot my own hdri environments for a while. Nikon has a good 10.5mm DX lens for cameras similar to my D90. It may not be as nice as your setup, but it should work for now. I’m interested in what other gear and software you used in taking the photos? There are a lot of VR/panorama programs available, and I wasn’t sure about which one people have had best experience using. Or is there a way to create a hemispherical pano just in Photoshop? I haven’t seen any examples of people doing it all in Photoshop. Besides the lens and software, I am also planning on buying a VR pano head for my tripod, a Nodal Ninja 3, actually. I haven’t bought it yet and I’d love to know if you or anyone else has some good advice about what works best for creating HDRI env’s from start to finish.

Sorry, I know it’s just the ‘Image Uploads’ forum, but it’s something I’ve wanted to ask about for a while.

Thanks,
Andrew

As for software i’d recommend PTGui.

Thorsten
