Hi all,
I need help with Chaos Anima.
I imported Animation 1 from Mixamo and want to apply it to Model 2 to move along a path (see image).
I’m not sure how to assign it in the PROPERTIES panel.
Can someone guide me on how to do this? I’m aiming for a panicked crowd scene.
Thanks!
Hello @jitsuhisa_shibata
Thank you for contacting us.
As we introduced a new animation engine in version 5 based on neural networks, it is not possible anymore to define custom Motion Clips on the Crowd Paths because now the neural model is the one that takes care of the simulation of the Rigged models in Paths. You can still manually apply any of the motion clips available to the Socialization Areas or to the individual models directly, but not to the Crowd Paths.
We understand that some customers like yourself may miss this feature. However, we believe that the improvements brought by the neural engine are worth it as they affect all the users in the most common situations (path loops, more natural collisions. Also, the interactions with the environment and other actors, fluid change of speed and direction, better animations in stairs, compatibility with curved stairs, etc.). Also, we have just started with the new engine, and it has a lot of room for improvement.
That said, please notice that the options to switch between Loop, Cycle, or PingPong modes on the motion clips are still available in the Anima Designer when the Edit mode is selected**:**
However, the feet velocity graph and the other options related to that graph have been removed because those were only useful for Locomotion clips, so they don’t make sense now that those cannot be used anymore.
There is still one possibility to use custom walking/running motion clips with the Rigged models in Anima 5 or newer. The use case is limited to going ahead in a straight line without adapting the animation to any kind of Path or Background geometry, but that might be enough in some cases**.** You can do that by simply importing the FBX and setting the Clip type as “Standing / Walking”. Then drag that motion into any Rigged model present in the scene that is not attached to a Crowd path or a Socialization Area (just dropped in the viewport). After that, the Rigged actor should play that custom animation in a loop.
