Some recent images from a big project…first attempt at fireplace, all materials, and furniture have never been made so getting them to look right was a challenge! Most material samples scanned were 1" square, so sorry if there’s too much tiling! I know the furniture modeling is fairly poor, but I am not a good modeler of “organic” shaped things like couches, pillows…There may be some mistakes, but it was a fast paced one, and the client was happy! Thanks for looking…
Lobby…
Bathroom…(Don’t look at the towel in the first bathroom image, it cuts into the tub
(Luckily this view wasn’t for the client or I would have fixed.)
I love alot of the details very good work.
My only crit is the fireplace - it looks awful no offense. It takes away from the other images.
@jujubee, Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the fireplace was my first attempt at one, and in the client’s image (different view) it is barely visible, so I didn’t spend much time on that part. Thanks for commenting
Fire
I did some searches here before-hand and decided to go with an opacity mapped plane with a vraylightmtl… It rendered really quickly and got the point across that there was a cozy fire in that lounge. But, please, if anyone has a great recipe they’d like to share on making fireplaces for stills, I’d love to learn! Thanks
Mmm good luck on that one. I had a very tough time creating a fireplace once as well. I was interested in Aura but didn’t get into the beta (plus it looked difficult.)
So I ended up using a bitmap and ordering an evermotion DVD containing fireplaces - put the logs in front of that. Then I put a yellow Vray light in front of the fireplace so it would cast a faint light around the area.
Fireplaces definitely aren’t easy.

Thanks for the tips jujubee, and the luck; I’m sure I’ll need it:!:
