Is Vantage worth trying?

I use vray 5 for sketchup. I’m trying to understand what advantages I may get trying Vantage?

The only thing I find lacking in vray 5 isn’t vray but with the lack of items in Cosmos. I could do with a lot more people in various poses along with plants and trees. I can get other things elsewhere or model them myself.

I use Vantage for VR presentations and Renderings the GPU renderer is much faster than with CPU and GPU in Vray 5.
Test Rendering the same picture
Image rendering Vantage 0.19 minutes for a 1920x1080 image with an RTX 3080.
Image rendering Vray 5 about 2.23 minutes with an AMD 3970 and one RTX 3080 image 1920x1080
Software Cinema 4D Vray 5 und Vantage

Vantage is just great that would be my opinion

So Vantage is faster than vray 5 in gpu? I’ll have to give it a whirl. I run a rtx 3090 at the moment. I love it but the UPS I bought overloads a beeps during some scenes. I need to get a bigger capacity UPS :frowning:

do you have image comparisons of the scene in vantage and vray gpu?

Rendertime of the same Picture 1920x1080

CPU AMD 3970
GPU 3080 RTX
Render Settings Vray 5 with light Cash Sample Type Bucket

CPU 2.32 Minuten
CPU GPU Cuda 1,31 Minuten
GPU Cuda 1,37 Minuten
GPU RTX 1,28 Minuten

Vantage Settings Samples 512 Denoiser Light Cache

Vantage 0,26 Minuten

ah sorry, i meant do you have the actual images, I’m just curious to see the quality differences etc.

Hello I can not release the pictures, with the Lut adjustment in Vantage, the pictures have the same quality there is no difference. if I render something that I can share, I’ll post something.

Here two Pictures GPU Rendering in Vray 5 and Vantage

three key words : time, money, display
The Vantage base on costly graphics cards to make a fast display effect, just isn’t perfect enough

but Rome wasn’t built in a day, Vantage will be improved by gods!!

I am passionate about Vantage

Looks pretty good @Wohnraumdesign Nicely done!

Did you need to change anything in Vantage to try and match the Vray GPU look?
Quality is very good

Vray 5 VFB ein Lut setup save and then load the setup into Vantage. The renderings in Vantage are at least 50 percent faster than in Vray 5 C4D!

I freaking love Vantage. It’s like the best of both worlds between my traditional Vray workflow in 3ds Max and Lumion. Except the final images are wayyyy more on the side of Vray in quality. It currently lacks a lot of things that are necessary to make it my go-to (mainly unique settings for individual cameras) but it’s going to get there eventually and sooner than later. I’m already making it work. I’m excited about it and after several years of wondering if I was going to be left behind by other software that has been exploding on the scene, I feel safe for now. The only real constraint I have is Video RAM. I use a 3090 but am still constantly bumping into the limit.

unclefarkus, feel free to tell us more about what you feel is missing (maybe in the Wishlist forum section). User feedbacks is important for us to steer the software in the right direction (and how to prioritize, because we know most of the things we need to do already, but it all requires time…)

I’d be interested to hear more about this. If you can share your workflow or someone else’s online it’d much appreciated. Thank you!

This is a comparison of the rendering quality of Vantage and VRay that I did. In most cases it is very close, but only takes 1/10 of the time: Interior - Kitchen - Chaos Forums
Vantage is completely real-time, just like playing a game.

Great, thanks appreciate the feedback. Does anyone have a link to tutorial or workflow for the most efficient way from 3ds Max to vantage or unreal using any headsets?
