Just for fun

I’ve been playing with something and the results turned out quite nice:

Note that the directly visible caustics are perfectly correct (e.g. no interpolation or anything). We’ll see what (if anything) will come out of this…

Vlado

amazing!
2nd one is gr8!

what r u going after here vlado?hum?

cool beans. how does it look if you turn on appreciable area shadows?

A bit noisier, as you would expect

Best regards,
Vlado

Here is a quick one with area light:

And one with VRaySun (turned out a bit greenish by mistake):

Great,

looks really very clean. Any rendertimes?

Dieter

About 5 to 10 minutes, I think.

Best regards,
Vlado

looks great!

qmc/LC?

5-10 minutes?? which ones? I imagine the ice-cube image must have taken longer…or? if not thats really fast! (and it looks cool!)

Any chance of elaborating on what youve done?

It looks like some new fast way to calculate caustics… which is nice, as ive never been able to justify using them before.

ppt? Unbiased techniques? very fast

yeah what kind of method is it?
looks like adaptive ppt

Don’t think it’s smth deals with ppt … Smth like fast photon mapping technique.

But awesome anyway!!!

Those look cool…
Not that I need to use caustics much, but those few times I have tried to use them I never seem to get the result I want.
Or the amount of testrenders to tweak them right are way to time consuming.

Nice render Vlado.. really cool!!

So whats teh trick? new caustics method? as 5-10mins is pretty swift especially for the ice cube one

Looking good Vlado, nice times too, I say you just release rc3 and then keep playing no need for a full 1.50

There are caustics all over the place in real life, if they are easy cheap and fast bring them on it will just add to the reality.

oh yeah, dispersion an volume caustics would be nice too :stuck_out_tongue:

2nd that!!

3rd that

very nice tests vlado, it would, look forward to seeing this in a build soon
