Using with 3dsmax..
Why are we not allowed to render a sequence via the live-link mode.
I bring a massive scene into Vantage and scrub back and forth and it looks great, all I need to do is render a sequence. Max should be able to advance one frame, Vantage would render that frame and repeat. But I can’t do that. I need to export a vrayscene file that for this scene is 50GB for 100 frames and takes 20 minutes to compile. I have 1800 frames I’d like to render and Vantage as it is right now is far too cumbersome.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Andy
We are aware of the issue you are talking about and have considered the solution you describe, but we didn’t have time to implement it.
Thanks for bringing it up again, hopefully we can get to implementing it soon.

That is great news, once that works, I’ll be using Vantage every day.
We’ve implemented animation sequence rendering over Live Link in 1.5.0 released today. It requires V-Ray for 3ds Max Update 2 which will be released very soon as well.
This is a much awaited feature. Thanks for the update. Waiting for the release for Vray update 2.
Is vantage going to support animated textures and meshes anytime soon?
What about V-Ray for Maya? Could we have animation sequence rendering over Live Link as well?
Thank you.
And Vray for Cinema 4D?
Hi guys,
Is vantage going to support animated textures and meshes anytime soon?
It is planned but no ETA for the moment.
What about V-Ray for Maya? Could we have animation sequence rendering over Live Link as well?
And Vray for Cinema 4D?
They are also in the TO DO list but no ETA, only Max for now.
Best regards,
Alexander
This new “Animation over Live Link” in 3ds Max will allow you to render animated meshes.
Unlike the basic Live Link it requires additional code to iterate over the frames, which we have implemented in maxscript for Max. So while Maya, C4D and other apps can start Live Link like any other V-Ray DR render, it will require either modifying the respective plugin DLLs (V-Ray for <X>) or adding scripts in the language supported by the respective apps.
V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max update 2 was released today. You can now try animation over live link.
great job thank you so much.
Agreed, few quick tests this morning and all is working great. Animated meshes and not having to save out vrscene files all the time is excellent ![]()
When com this for c4d?
This is a question for the V-Ray for C4D team. I believe they plan official Live Link integration for their next major update, but we don’t know if it will include sequence rendering.
Thank you!
Thank you for your reply! Hope to get it soon. ![]()
