Materialexport from Vray to Vantage

Hello
My topic is the material export from Cinema 26/Vray 6 to Vantage 1.8.3.
The materials are shown in the material list on the right, but are otherwise not shown on the model and the rendering ?
The textures/materials are only rendered correctly for models from the Cosmos Browser.

Thanks and best regards
Rudi

Hi Rudi,

Can you send a sample scene to investigate?

Best regards,
Alexander

Hi Rudi,

You can also use a cloud service, like GDrive, Dropbox, etc and send the link so I can download it, or archive the scene in a .zip file and attach that in the forum.

Best regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,

thanks for the info, attached the file.

Hi Rüdiger,

I believe the issue is the UV mapping. Currently Vantage doesn’t support all UV mapping options available in CInema4D, only UVW Mapping is supported. Can you please try to map a few object with UVW Mapping, instead of Plane or Cube mapping to test if it will work?

Best regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander !

Now I have found time. I tried UVW mapping. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work. I have attached examples. Bump mapping (see cube 1), opacity mapping (cube 2) and displacement (cube 3) are problematic. Anyway I thank you for any hint.

Best regards
Rüdiger

Hi Rüdiger,

The problem with bump is that currently Vantage doesn’t support procedural textures as input, only bitmaps. Probably the opacity problem is that you have to enable opacity rendering(the Leaf button in the top left toolbar). Also opacity doesn’t use procedural textures and only bitmaps, and it renders as clip opacity, meaning only black and white values, no grays. Displacement in general is not supported so that is why it is not rendering inside Vantage.

Best regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,

thank you for your support and detailed explanation !
I hope Vantage will implement procedural textures and displacement in the future ?!

Best regards
Rüdiger

Hi Rüdiger,

Yes, full support for procedural textures for bump and opacity, as well as displacement is something that we implement but cannot say when it will be available. We will write back when any of them are ready for use or keep an eye on the Announcement section where we post new releases and changelogs.

Best regards,
Alexander
