For some time now max hangs for almost a minute after render completion and I try to exit the VFB, or click on anywhere on the UI outside the VFB.
I’m using max 2014 and vray 3.2.003. The problem is more pronounced when rendering scenes with lots of assets and using DR.
Does anyone have any clue on why it could be happening? It gets really frustrating when i’m in a test render phase since I do a lot of render process canceling.
Does the issue persist if you enable “Don’t render final image” in Global switches?
I will give it a try, although I doubt it will change since the issue persist even when I cancel a render when it’s in the LC calculation phase. Could it be a network issue? I don’t see how since all the textures are loaded prior the rendering.
Hi,
Actually I don’t see a reason for such a big delay when the render is stopped unless there are additional processes like saving high res. image.
Does it happen only when rendering in DR mode ?
What is the CPU and memory usage at that time ?
Would it be possible to test one of your scenes here ? Or troubleshoot via remote session.
i have the same issue in maya with vray fur…
it looks like vray needs a long time to clear the ram…
Sorry for the late replay. We’re in the middle of a delivery. The problem is getting worse with big scenes/lots of textures… In one scene it hangs after the render is done. We are having some server issues (low network read speed). I will troubleshoot the problem as soon as I’m free.
Maybe the problem is with the color corrections? This is an old Vray version and I remember a few versions back vray was hanging if you had white balance and other color corrections turned on in the frame buffer. The hanging got exponentially longer with the increase in the render resolution. Please check this thread.
I have to check but this is still an issue that we have to fix. Can you send us a test scene ?
Have you enabled the option “Cache bitmaps between renders” from the Global switches rollout?
