Yes…i was surprised to see Maxwell test render in the image upload section !!! definitly in the off topic…will start to be confusing otherwise…
but i’am sorry 8 hours for that…that’s bad…ok it’s alpha version…
let’s move everything to the offtopic !! there’s billion of messages on the Maxwell render there…
i don’t think thoses images need 8 hours of computation. but since render time i s the only parameter, do you know when the image was noise free ? i guees you were not sitting in front of the screen
or simply a DUAL XEON with 4GB ram and quadro as video card?
It seems always the same rendering time since 1999 but with nasa PC
STRANGE things!!!
Obviously very good images but I don’t think is a render for common people for now I saw some images with very long time respect a vray render for the same quality ( cleaner the vray’s one) with very very shorter times
but for those PC is too long anyway THAT’S my OPINION
the second pic looks very nice to me with the sunlight. i’d like to see that recreated with vray. indoors are a no brainer but the physical sky thing looks interesiting. i had no great luck with gradient environments or hdri.
Yes Plastic, I think the idea of comparison between Maxwell and VRay with this scene and this view would be illuminating. (no pun intended!)
And yes again…the lunar position was absolutely random and thrown in at the end. Sort of a Photoshop whim.
Finally, yes, the sky is entirely produced inside Maxwells renderer and can be selected at will. By that I mean that the location, longitude, latitude, time of day, month and etc can all be dialed in by the end-user.
very neat really.
I chose the 8 hour rendering time quite arbitrarily. I tried 2 hours and found that the image lacked some focus. I went to 4 hours and saw a bit of difference. Not knowing a great deal about how to tweek the rendferer, I decided to push it up to 8 hours and let it run overnight. This wa the result. At present I know a bit more about the fine tuning and can probably reduce the overall render time to about 4 hours with much greater control.
As the development team gets farther along and time permits, I’m hopeful that the tutorials will begin to take shape and we can learn from each other as a user community much like the fine help we all enjoy here on the chaos firum site.
