Missing Directory Warning after converting materials to V-Ray

We’ve noticed that after converting any SketchUp material to V-Ray, an orange warning icon appears next to the texture path with the message “The directory does not exist,” showing the original path used when the model was created. While this doesn’t stop the texture from rendering at first, as soon as we try to wrap it in a Color Correction node or any other node, the texture disappears from the render.

When it comes to sharing SketchUp files, we’ve never had problems before since textures are embedded in the file, but V-Ray seems to handle textures differently.

Could you explain why this happens and what the recommended workflow is when converting models to V-Ray?

Hello santiago_gutirrezdepierespedraza,

This is expected, because after converting a SketchUp material to V-Ray, V-Ray caches the texture files. One thing you can do is, after converting the SketchUp materials to V-Ray, open File Path Editor (Extensions > V-Ray > File Path Editor), select the textures marked in yellow, click on “Archive & Repath” and choose a local directory. This way you save the cached textures and you can then edit them in the V-Ray material:

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Iva

Thanks, that solves the issue
