my test interior

i just downloaded the new version. i was pretty impressed with mapping and light control. it was far far differentfrom when i first use this software. i remember all those frustrations in mapping and lighting. and now with this.. with complexity of lighting and level of bump and reflection, i think the rendering time is acceptable. sharing my first test on interior using this old project in hanoi.

Cool render! Very nicely done. I think the reflections on the hardwood floor are particularly convincing and the lighting levels are just right (for watching TV!). Is the TV image imported into sketchup or pasted in afterwards?

Re: my test interior

my personal discoveries during playtime with vraysu.

wood- ior a bit higher than 1.55 (i used here @3) but you have to lower a bit the highlight and reflection glosiness. in my case i prefer .85-.90

tv. i added another vray rectangular light parallel to tv screen and used emmisive material for the tv screen (instead of using color on the emmissive slot i applied a bitmap. i actually struggled in putting the desired image on the tv ( re adjusting adjusting the bitmap uv i think more than 20times) this is always what im hoping in su. to have some hint how the bitmap will apply to the surface.

Re: my test interior

nomeradona-

Nice image- thanks for coming back to try!

Best regards,

Re: my test interior

here is another one. there was a mistake here. i forgot i think to choose the face of those yellow materials. they are actually the same materials as those wood.

Another cracker. Like the lighting levels - it looks really natural. I find that it is quite tricky to get the balance of lighting correct and you have it perfect. I also like your use of textures - brings life to the room. Maybe you just need a few electricals - light switches etc. to put the finishing touches to it.
You have really mastered vray with this one.

How about doing one with the sunlight coming in through the windows?

Re: my test interior

david,

im now here at the internet cafe in bangkok and i miss my computer there in hanoi.

thanks for your encouragement. still trying to adjust on lighting with those light multiplier from that beta. but yeah im happy with the outcome. but i think we all need to thank some of the interesting setting by MADO which are actually good thing to start.

electrial switches, outlets.. yeah you are absolutlely correct on that. im not too particluar with those details.

sunlight? yeah actually im struggling in this area. i found this version has different lighting level parameter and that includes the sky. i found out they are too bright. i tried to render some of those old stuff i did using the beta versions and whoo. they are too bright. im now on the process on familiarizing myself with the exterior settings particularly in using the Global Illumination. any starting tips?

anyhow, really thank you david for all your encouragement.

Re: my test interior

here is a test for allowing sunlight to come from the glasses. i am successful to do it. but i think i need to tweak something. can you please criticize it so as to know what to improve.

Re: my test interior

Nomer

I think it looks very realistic and is a nice render. Although it is very atmoshperic and moody, if you do want more light in the room, maybe larger windows, or putting a table lamp on the table.
However I think it looks good.

Re: my test interior

i found out that i need to calibrate the monitor of my laptop. i did it there so its ok. when i openned it here it our school it was so dark. i found out recently that the monitor of my laptop is so bright too.

this morning i was testing the level of GI multiplier and the physical camera iso. it seems i had found something. will just post later on some of the findings.

david, i was actually challenge by you on this test. previously i dont use the sun and i only depend on the artificial lighting. i really want to experiment and push my limit in just using the sun and see the effect of this in the interior. later i will proceed in doing exterior. i love the attempt you are doing on that shop.

my only worry now is i have only 5 days left in using this software. hope there will be extension.

Re: my test interior

just sharing my latest here.

Re: my test interior

here is a combination of vray and sketchup style.

Re: my test interior

Astig! I like the color tones of your room. The tv panel looks real and the chrome work are fantastic. I wish I could do the same with mine but unfortunately I’m not that knowledgeable in 3d rendering and add to the fact that my Vray for sketchup expired. :frowning:

Nomer, What softwares did you use on this particular perspective?

Sketchup, Vray for sketchup?, Photoshop? SU Podium? Maxewell? What softwares do you recommend for beginners like me?

Re: my test interior

mikaztro,

thanks for your encouragement. i used sketchup rendered in vray su (the beta version if you are asking on the particular picture above)

if your trial version is expired maybe ask joe what to do.

Just peeping in, heard all the commotion about vray for podium…guess fauxlo just died.

Re: my test interior

solo you know me im a one of your big fan, i really like the way you pushed the limits. i guess fauxlo will never die. im actually waiting for this ps plugin from you. thanks by the way for all your effort inspite of the fact that sometimes people discourage you. but your always the man solo. no one can steal the burning creativity in you.

Re: my test interior

i strongly agree with nomer … solo dont loose the fire with you…

Re: my test interior

Nomer…

i think u did a fantastic job.Actually i’m struggling to work on the interior lights & also to do the mapping.Could you please give some tips…maybe a basic step by step on how to do it?really appreciate if u could.Again, really admire the interior rendering.I wonder when i can achieve such like that..haha.

Re: my test interior

its very humbling mhd.akmali. but i think all of us start with frustrations whenever you cant produce what you like. i did. i even gave up this software during its beta time, because of lack of resources ( help/manuals) at that time. joe and the gang i think did an enormous job in producing these manuals. i was actually inspired by some of the guys work in this forum (cauldwell and mado plus those images rendered in rhino), then i gave this software a second try. I downloaded the new release and voila, i did produce a satisfying image ( which is the living room with filipino superhero on the television), from then on i strived by trial and error.

tips on my interior lights.

1. make a small rectangular omni light inside the receptacle. this light should be visible. it will act as source light. i ussually assign a high multiplier ( between 500-1000). cones and scallops will be formed by the shape of light receptacle itself.

2. i make test render then ( under global switches) i tick the override materials and i make all other settings minimal. to quickly have a clay render to see the effect of lights.

3. sometimes i am not satisfied with the distribution of light inside the room. so under that receptacle i will make another rectangular omni ( one sided, normal facing down, invisble). this second omni will help to distibute the light inside the room then. thats. it.
