Need some help regarding materials

Hi! This is my first post here, and I’m tottaly new regarding rendering with V-Ray! :-[

Is there a website where I can download materials to use with ‘VRay for Rhino’?!

I found this one > www.vray-materials.de < it has EXCELLENT materials, but I can’t seem to get them on ‘Vray for Rhino’ :frowning: On ‘VRay for Rhino’ when I import a material I can only use files with the ‘asgvis’ format. Am I doing something wrong, or I just don’t have any chance to use the materials from that website?

Thank you very much for the help! 8)

Re: Need some help regarding materials

That web-site is specific to V-Ray for Max. Unfortunately V-Ray does not have an official material format so we are using our own - the vismat. We do have an exporter for Max that write out a vismat from a Max material - but if you don’t have 3dsmax it isn’t of much use to you.

We do have some materials in our Downloads section you can check out.

Re: Need some help regarding materials

Hi! Thanks for the info…

Regarding to that exporter, I can use a computer with 3DSMax installed…

Is it easy to transform 3DSMax materials to Vismat? Does it take too long? And do they work perfectly?

Thank you!

Re: Need some help regarding materials

is there a way to get the new vismats to work for the old vray versions?

Re: Need some help regarding materials

I think there’s no way mr. senator, for example new vismats with a texfalloff or texdirt will not be applicable to older vray version.
