NEW Benchmark scene (Max 8 Vray RC3 required)

3DBoxx 8304> Dual Xeon X5355, 6Gb RAM, NVidia QFX 3500, 400Gb SATA

Would you mind telling us how much that beast set you back?

Oh.. Wonderful Creature.

Holy…According to the Boxx website, that system will cost you $7,302.00

WOW

I’ve been following this post for a while but this is the time to say WOW

I needed two stations and the X5355 would have increased the price $1680. This would have killed my budget, but man that render time! If only money were no object.

Ding, ding…timmatron wins!

We also just got 6 renderboxxes, same spec but with 4gb ram!

Mama Mia :o
Ive just posted the wife & kid on ebay for sale - hopefully this will raise enough money to buy one of those monsters.

LOL

Win XP 32
2 Gb ram
dual Xeon (old Prestonias… :? ) 2.4Ghz @ 3.57Ghz

Wow, very nice system - congrats :!:

A couple of questions…

How loud is it?

What OS are you running, XP 64 or Vista 64?

hey n6, lets see you overclock your way down to under 2mins

3DWS BEAZT PRO (Middle Range WS)
QX6700 @3,3 ghz
i965
4x1 GB DDR2 667
Quadro FX 1500
2x Western Digital RE (RAID EDITON) 250 gb SATA
Win XP+MAX 9+V-RAY 1.5RC3 (All 64 bit.)

GregM> Not loud at all compared to my old IBM Z-pro, in fact extremely quiet. Windows XP x64. I won’t be going to Vista anytime soon.

2m9sec

thats a great time for the QX6700. I should be receiving mine soon. What motherboard do you use and what kind of settings in the bios for the overclock? Is it running 100% stable at that speed?

Ran a few quick tests on my new QX6700 :

@2.66ghz = 2:40min
@3.00ghz = 2:22min

At 3ghz, the system marginally outperforms a dual xeon 5160 (same speed), for a lot less money…

Shuttle SD37P2 barbone system
XP pro X64
max9
QX6700
4gb RAM

The SD37P2 is not geared for hardcore overclockers, but it allows to reasonably up the speed never the less. I like the compactness of the Shuttles and it makes “work on site” far more convenient…
I’m tempted to say the QX6700 is the best “performance buy” at the moment…

Dual Quad core Xeon 5355
XP Pro 32
MAX 9
4GB RAM

Getting two more next week with XP64, so will run another test then 8)

looks like we might need a new benchmark with all these dual quads coming!

Instead of new benchmarks, we could just double the resolution.

..I guess maybe though that would lead to more confusion than it’s worth anyways.

from what i see so far the qx 6700 seems to be the best money/performance choice today.
I’m about to buy a few render nodes for the office do you guys think i should go with those?
