Offshore - Drillship

Hi!
Here is a render from an animation I’m working on at the moment…

Animation:

ftp://visco04:ufSD3@pub.visco.no/DrillMAX.wmv

Pretty cool, id like to see some close ups too.

Looks great! How did you model it?
Nice water, too.

Very nice indeed!

I think the water seems too reflective, or is it just me?
Still it looks good. Did you do the water with a VRay plane or is the water and clouds done with something like dreamscape? (nice ship)

WOAH.. that’s a monster!

I think the sea could do with a little fogging (same colour as the sky) as it gets to the horizon.

Can’t wait to see the animation.

Thanks for the comments:)

voltron7: I didn’t model the ship, just textureing and rendering

I’ll see what I can do with the reflection and fog.
The water is a regular plane and I added the sky in photoshop

And closeup… After the closeup rendering, I can see some of the equipment is floating!

Those close ups look great, your client is going to flip

Wow, great closeups!

That’s awesome dude. Really good job and great lighting.

You mind me asking what method you used?

Nice lighting… using Vray sun with Vray sky I guess…

Chris

Yes, VraySun and VraySky

I’m lovin it

Great Renders

Closeups on the machinery are simply awesome!

Best regards,
A.

Talk about details, wonderful job!

very cool, i like those orange pods at the front that look they drop in to the water.

i think you could use a little swell on the ocean, long rolling swell, on top of the existing texture.

and i think the other close up shots are just a little too pushed contrast wise. it is a good effect but just taken a bit too far.

Hi, for the sea you might use the ocean-plugin by charles hollemeersch:

should be more realistic

Dirk

That ocean plugin doesnt work with Max 9-64 incase anyone is wondering.

is it me, or the plugin is a proof of concept only?
How is a square plane with fixed size going to cover a camera view which isn’t top-down?
Damn nice waves, allright, but I can’t see that cutting it…
