I’ve just read up on one particular feature of open EXR2.0 being Deep Data Support. Pixels can store multiple values at different depths. Does this mean that passes like zdepth would now be able to differentiate between objects behind glass and objects in front of glass and render correctly and would vray support this kind of thing ? Assuming of course I’ve understood this correctly…
V-Ray can do this, yes. I don’t think Nuke can handle it though…

Vlado
I guess Frischult and the other zdepth plugins will have to be updated at some point to be able to use this file type.. Are there any programs out there that can support EXR 2.0 ?
Nuke is the only one that I know of for sure. I think Fusion might have something too, but I haven’t played with it.

Vlado
I have no idea how transparency is handled currently. Nuke supports Deep Image data as mentioned by vlado. In addition there is pgBokeh by Peregrine Labs which is a DOF plugin that supports deep data already.
I have yet to try anything with transparency. First and foremost this helps fixing edge-artifacts.
