Hi,
I see in news builds a “Phoenix object properties” attributes on mesh objects heyhey.
Any informations ? ![]()
Phoenix for Maya beta will be released very soon.
Very great new !
It will be a private beta or public ?
I have some FX guys in my team who want to test it.
You’ll be able to get on it either way ![]()
Best regards,
Vlado
I´m in!
Very good news!
Can’t wait to give it a try.
Thanks.
Phoenix in Maya? That would be awesome. I have a quick question,. I noticed that the new Phoenix looks a lot like Fume, but is Phoenix still spline based like in the old
3dsmax version? I haven’t had a chance to try the new Phoenix in Max yet.
YAY!! Can’t wait to try it out!!
My bad. I keep thinking Chaos Group made Fumefx. Still would love to try Phoenix in Maya.
The new Phoenix is a grid-based fluid solver; it has nothing in common with the old spline-based thingy ![]()
Best regards,
Vlado
I’m curious,.. can the grid based solver autosize based upon the volume of the particles emitted? I can’t remember if it was Lightwave or XSI that had this. That is one of Fumefx’s biggest hitches
is that you’d have to resize it all the time and rerun the sim. Also, for jet trails, someone actually suggested making a multitude of grid boxes along the path. (there has got to be a better way
to do that)
Btw,. I liked that ole spline based thingy Phoenix in Max
Mostly using Maya these days now though.
If course it can autosize, but I believe FumeFX does this as well.
Best regards,
Vlado
The auto-resizing feature in Phoenix FD is somewhat different from the FumeFX one. In Phoenix FD you specify maximum ram usage or maximum cells count, but the grid can grow however it needs and it’s not bounded by anything else.
I mean when the simulation is running. No worries, I’ll just be happy its in Maya.
I was super excited about Phoenix, I almost ran home from work to get to try it!
… but when I try to simulate I get a licensing error. Anyone got their beta up and running?
You will need to get your dongle updated with the beta license. Did you get this done?
Best regards,
Vlado
thanks for replying at this late hour, vlado! (do you ever sleep btw?) ![]()
i’ve sent my serial no.'s to Andrey, and then got the download /acceptance email afterwards.
So I guess I’ll have to wait for an update to upload to my dongles then.
