Is there a way to block the effects of the physical camera from effecting a camera’s image plane?
Could you specify what do you mena by effecting? Can you provide screenshots?
When you turn DOF on, the image plane is affected. Makes it hard to match live action footage if you can’t see what you are trying to light and shade to.
Even with the dof off, the physical camera will affect the exposure, vignetting etc of the image plane. It makes it hard to match lighting to back plates
From what I can see, the exposure does not affect the image plane even now. DOF and vignetting are more complicated to turn off (vignetting can be done in principle, but not DOF). An alternative would be to use a screen-mapped background environment (VRayPlaceEnvTex has a “Screen” mapping mode) and turn off the “Affect background” option in the color mapping settings; to render against a black background and composite the plate later on; or to use a regular camera
A screen-mapped background will not be affected by DOF, and when you turn off the “Affect background” option of the color mapper, it will ignore the exposure/vignetting/white balance of the physical camera as well. An issue will be if the background is seen through reflections/refractions - it will still remain mapped to the screen, rather than being actually reflected/refracted like an image plane is.
