Possible VRAM memory leak when changing Aspect Ratio in Vantage

Hello,

I think I may have found a possible VRAM memory leak in Vantage.

My setup:

  • RTX 4090
  • Corona 15 Live Link to Vantage
  • DLAA enabled

I noticed that simply changing the Aspect Ratio from a horizontal composition to a more vertical one caused a significant drop in FPS and a large increase in VRAM usage.

Before changing the aspect ratio, the scene was running at around:

  • ~58 FPS
  • ~17.3 GB VRAM usage

After adjusting the aspect ratio:

  • FPS dropped to around 6 FPS
  • VRAM usage increased to ~24.2 GB

The strange part is that after restoring the original aspect ratio, neither the FPS nor the VRAM usage returned to their previous values. The performance remained degraded until I completely closed and restarted Vantage. Only after restarting did the FPS and VRAM consumption return to normal.

This makes me wonder if some buffers, render targets, or resources created during the aspect ratio change are not being properly released.

Has anyone else experienced similar behavior, or could this be a bug in Vantage?

I have attached screenshots showing the difference before and after the issue occurs.

Thank you!

Hello @Avalanche_1,

Would it be possible to share your scene, so we could test steps you describe with it? If yes, please send archived file to our support and mention this forum thread: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Also let us know:

  • Your current installed drivers;

  • Have you noticed similar memory increases in any other of your projects?

Thank you in advance.

There are lots of warnings in your scene (seen in bottom left). Could you share a log file? It’s located in %APPDATA%/Chaos/Vantage/debug_log.txt and gets overwritten with each session so you may have to repeat the test.

Is there displacement in the scene?
