When rendering a horizontally sectioned model, it comes out dark, as if some object is casting a shadow from above. I’ve tried creating new sections and changing the lighting, but the result is the same. When I perform the procedure in Revit, there’s no problem. It only happens in SketchUp. I’ve attached an image showing the problem. Thank you very much
Hi DARIOMG, and welcome to our forum!
SketchUp’s cut feature doesn’t actually remove geometry from the model — it only hides what’s behind the cut plane. The geometry is still there, just not visible in the SketchUp viewport. Because of this, Enscape will still render that hidden geometry, which is why section views often appear dark.
Revit works differently: it truly cuts the geometry at the section plane. Since there’s nothing left behind the cut in Revit, Enscape can render the section cleanly, with light passing through as expected.
This limitation comes entirely from how SketchUp handles cuts, not Enscape. We can’t change this behavior without fundamentally altering the way SketchUp stores and manages its geometry, which isn’t something we can control from our side.
The only workarounds are to physically edit or trim the geometry where you want the section to be — for example, by using SketchUp’s solid tools or manually removing the back portion of the model — or to use a third-party plugin such as Skalp, which simulates true geometry cuts. We know these approaches can mean extra work, and we’re sorry there isn’t a quicker way to achieve the same effect directly within SketchUp.
Entiendo perfectamente el punto de su respuesta. Muchas gracias, intentare resolverlo con ese metodo.
