Question about Vray sunlight in SU

Hi everyone,
Greetings! I’m not new to sketchup but a starter in Vray SU. The tutorials helped me a lot and i can follow it smoothly. But there’s 1 thing that i cannot deal with.. its about Vray sunlight. switching sunlight in SU is easy but for Vray sun is not. I can’t even make the Vray sun parameters to appear.

A bunch of tips and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

Hi - the V-Ray sun in sketchup should be directly linked to your Sketchup sun position. The settings for the V-Ray sun can be modified in our Options - Environment slot. The GI and BG texture maps are, by default, set to Sky Textures. You should be able to modify the V-Ray sun-specific settings from there.

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

Wow! Thanks.. you’re the man! 8)
now i know where can i find the suns parameters.

…uhmm, but how come that my render results are all white?
what would have caused this man? what parameters should i tweak?

hoping again for your assistance, master.

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

The V-Ray sun is based off of physical units…This means that the sun is very bright. It is recommended to use the physical camera so that you can properly expose the sun. For more info on the physical sun and the physical camera check out the vray training manual available in our downloads section.

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

This generally has to do with exposure settings in the physical camera. First - make sure you do have the physical camera on. You can find that in Options-Camera. The physical camera is based upon…well… a physical camera. This means that it uses exposure to control the amount of light in the final image. So, as with a real camera, you will need to tweak your shutter speed and f-stop to properly expose your “film”.

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

Another question i would like to clarify, does switching GI ON automatically uses the Vray sun or should a sky texture map should be added to the GI to use the Vray sun?

Sorry for my ignorance. hehehe.. ;D

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU

The sun will only be used as a V-Ray sun if you have the Sky texture and GI on. Otherwise it just gets treated as a regular direct light.

Re: Question about Vray sunlight in SU
