re:FORM Studios : Latest work

I’ve just uploaded a few of the projects I’ve completed this year. Let me know what you think!

Here’s my news page with all the posts.

Projects of particular interest are :
http://www.reformstudios.com/arch-vis/inverness-pcc/ : This animation was part of the developers competition bid presentation to the client body. I’m pleased to announce that the bid was successful!
http://www.reformstudios.com/marketing-creatives/celtic-media-festival/ : A pflow based animation presenting CMF sponsors logos.
http://www.reformstudios.com/arch-vis/independenc-newtown-masterplan/ : Pflow again; all trees and buildings animated using pflow box 1 and 3. This almost brought my workstation to its knees!

I’ve been trying to get good quality FLV video streaming from my site, but I’m afraid that playback is still not smooth on less than excellent internet connections. I’m thinking that I’ll need to subscribe to Vimeo to host the videos to solve this problem. Just out of interest, what bit-rate do you use for streaming video online? The videos linked above are encoded at 700kbps.

Looks great - nice work.

the one which nearly took your workstation on its knees is impressively well animated. I’m curious about the process.

Thanks for the comments.
The trees (100k or so) were distributed using a birth-material operator. This material was a high resolution map animated using masks in after effects.
The buildings were placed in the usual way, then converted to particles using the “particle chunks” process. The animations were triggered by the same map as the trees with the time offset to spread out the effect.

Thanks go to Oleg for making the tools avaiable to achieve this effect!

Very impressive animations, nicely done.

really impressive work Patrick! (I watched them all on vimeo)

I love the masterplan animation!!!

Very impressive! The Master Plan one is amazing! Congrats

Really nice stylized work! The master plan animation is excellent. Inverness PCC was very nice as well.

Thanks for all the compliments. Much appreciated!
