Rectangle Light: turning on "show in viewport" texture in Maya 2027 crashes

Not sure if this has been reported or not, but in 2027, I get an instant crash any time I turn the “show in viewport” option on a rectangle light from disabled to “Texture Only” or “Texture*Intensity”. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s a bitmap, ramp, or whatever. This did not happen in Maya 2025 with the same version of V-Ray.

Crash happens 100% of the time. To recreate, start with a blank scene, create a rectangle light, put anything in the texture slot and turn the “show in viewport” option to anything other than “disabled”

Maya 2027 on Mac OS Tahoe (26.4), V-Ray v7.20.04. Unfortunately I don’t have another operating system or v-ray version available to me right now to test this on. I did, however, test this on other Mac machines with the same versions of software, and they crash instantly as well.

Thanks!

Can you try with 7.40.02? I just tested it (on Tahoe 26.5.1, Maya 2027) and I have no issues.

Otherwise, we did make some changes to that option (it had another issue, which is fixed).

EDIT: FYI, it does indeed crash in 7.20.04, Maya 2027.

I’m installing it now, will let you know, thanks!

(edit) That worked, thanks! it doesn’t crash anymore for me, I’m in Maya 2027 and now V-Ray v7.40.02, seems to be working fine.

ooh, relighting splats is nice. have been waiting for this for a while  Nice update!
