Refraction fog color

I,

It would be great to have a slot material in the refraction fog color of the VRayMtl.
I work on a glass material with a gradient color of red glass to clear glass. The VRayBlendMtl give a bad ior when I mix 2 glass layers and standard Max blend give not very nice result.

This is already implemented for the next updates.

Best regards,
Vlado

Allong similar lines is there any way to use white as the fog color? I wish that wasn’t a limitation.

thanks

-Michael

Nope; the fog color is just absorption; if it is white, then you get a perfectly clear transparent material. I suppose what you mean is an emission color for the fog.

Vlado

Exactly.

Great new. I am very excited to use it.

Thanks Vlado

Fred

Any chance we could see the emission color added?

Thanks!

-Michael

Pardon me if I’m being a bit thick but what is the difference between this feature and the existing fog parameter (within the the refraction area) in the VRaymaterial?

Never mind, I get it. You want to be able to place bitmaps in the fog colour.

Im working on a project right now where i wish I had emission for the fog. :frowning:

Getting this kind of look especially with the increasing opacity based on thickness seems to be impossible. Ive also tried using a glossy refractive glass with a vrayenv fog for the volume component but you slam on the brakes render speed wise. I’m up for any suggestions.

Thanks!

-Michael

Heres my stab at it using translucency in the vraymtl.

Its ok and the scattering is better than just a straight up absorption but its hard to get the whiteness and not have it go gray.
