Curious if anyone has some good settings for doing an axon rendering with no direct sun or harsh light? I frequently want to show an axon of furniture or millwork, but I either need to work with the shadows of the sun (which is unrealistic for an interior setting), or have the time set to dusk/dawn where everything turns grey and flat
Have you tried to adjust sun power under the atmosphere settings?

If you disable the sun, you need some artificial lights to give your scene depth and contrast. Check common lighting setups that photographers use (3 point setup). Replicate them and you will get awesome results.
Also you can move the image → ambient brightness at 100% and try to use a lower quality. I used a lower quality (medium/high) often to get light into my scene without to much additional lights.
This sounds like I can’t take a section box from the model, correct? For example, this sounds like I would need to make these axon elements in a separate file or away from the project to get the lighting I need. Is that correct?
You can use Revit’s section box, but the sun is Enscape’s and doesn’t respect the clip.
@snowyweston If a section box is active in Revit, the sun shines into the scene so the light calcluation is respecting the altered geometry.
=>If the behavior is different on your side, please share an example and the performed steps.
In SketchUp the light calculation is not respecting the cut as SketchUp isn’t providing the necessary data within the API.
sorry Jonathan, I mean “the clip” (of the section box) to exclude Revit’s “sun”… for sure, sunlight pours through when the section box is active, but the OP was asking to exclude the sun.
