Rendered image and saved Image not the same

Good morning.
This may be a simple fix.
With all the lovely new setting .almost too many…
When I render and save the 2 images are different.
The saved one is over exposed.
Image attached, help would be appreciated.
Thank you

phil

What image format are you outputting to? Are you using OCIO or the legacy gamma workflow?

EDIT: Ah, I just noticed you have a Display Correction Exposure of -1.25. This correction is for display only (it’s written in brackets) and does not get saved in the image.

Ok thank you , now explain to me why you want an image display to be different to the output display…?
So what should it be at, to get the result you want. After rendering for hours to get to that point only to not be able to save it like it is on the screen is a waste of time.

So reset the renderer to default, untick exposer control, and set the Display correction to 0.0.
Why have so many setting been introduced, when a lot of the them are not necessary?

It’s for preview purposes. I, for one, use it all the time if I want to see something dark in the image or render elements without re-rendering.

EDIT: The Exposure Layer IS saved, so no need to untick it; no need to reset the renderer, too. Just set the Display Correction exposure (display only) to 0 and compensate via the Exposure layer.

Thank you, I do think it has been overly complicated, but I do not do any film fx , which I am sure these features are used for.
