Sand

Is it possible to create a pile of sand being poured out of a cup with Phoenix?

I don’t think it has a granular solver yet, though not sure,…but Tyflow can for sure.
I just tried repurposing the example granular file and it work’s very well for exactly this setup, if that helps.

Thanks for that, the only other issue is that I need to be able to do it in Maya!!

Yeah I thought that may be the case, though only after I had tested and posted.
It’s a shame, as the results are so quick and so very good.
I did find this, if it may be helpful https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/Bifrost-Common/files/simulate-dynamic-effects/create-mpm-simulations/Bifrost-Common-simulate-dynamic-effects-create-mpm-simulations-set-up-a-granular-simulation-html-html.html
Or if you have any budget then maybe https://effectivetds.com/resources/fx-tools/storm/

Storm looks good will try the demo and see how the export to Maya and Vray goes. Thanks.

Bifrost is great exactly for that.
It has a readymade sand setup integrated.
I just did wonderful snow last week.
If you need support on how to set it up, just ask

Hi there.
Bifrost seems to be the preferred method for me but havent even started the learning curve to implement it just yet.
I would like to try this method with Bifrost so any starting screen shots would be fab - even a little video tutorial for the community???
I ended up using Gaea for my terrain creation with displacement and bump.

Here’s a sneak peek, can’t show too much as its for Autodesk..
