Segmentation fault 36076

V-Ray V-Ray for Houdini Issues

I have 36076 Segmentation Fault, with Houdini crashing. I can’t really understand why this is happening.. usually when trigger for a new rendering. Duplicating the Vray Rendering Node seems to avoid Houdini to crash..
I don’t know if there is a Log file somewhere to share..

Do you have access to the nightly builds? If not please write to support@chaosgroup.com.
You may try more recent build to see if this is fixed there.

Hello, regarding this thread and this one too, I have created a ticket in our system.
The access will be shortly provided.

Please check again is the issue still there with the nightly builds, as Andrei mentioned.
Confirm here and if needed we will continue the investigation on this matter.

creac, in order to be more helpful, please define the following:

  • is it happening in all scenes (even in newly created ones) <> if yes, it is an installation issue => define .zip ot .exe have you chosen
  • is it happening in particular scene only <> if yes, we will need it to investigate further => use V-Ray > Pack Scene and I will open a ticket where you could send it safely

Choose your truthful case, waiting for the info.

Hi @tsvetomira.girginova , it is happening when I open an existing file. Not with a particular scene. I just installed the most recent Nightly today and still have the issue. To avoid Houdini to crash I just delete the vray render node and create a new one. Then it works OK.
How can I checked if the last Nightly is correctly installed? I am just asking because when copying the “About Vray” to give you the version it still June 2021 something.. Shouldn’t it be October 2021 instead?, the date of the Nightly release?

Yes, creac, it should be updated.
Have you used the .exe or the .zip install?

@tsvetomira.girginova .I just realized I downloaded vray next 4.30.. nightly. Usually I am working with Vray 5. Is there any Nightly for Vray 5 as well ? I can’t see it

Okay, give it a try and share what happened.

Be sure that you have downloaded the right build for your Houdini version. First you have mentioned 18.5.596 and then 17.5.460.
If you are experiencing issues, please agree for a TeamViewer session to take a look and help you.
