Hey guys, new personal work, aimed at checking how Corona would have worked on an exterior scene completely done in CG.
The scene heavily relies on displacement maps, except for the brick facade, done with Railclone. Corona definitely need an improvement in terms of displacement quality and resource optimizing. If the latter wasn’t a problem on a machine with 128gb of RAM, I didn’t manage to match the quality of VRay’s displacement. That’s something I hope will get fixed on Corona 2.0.

Man, these look like photos +1
Thanks man, realism was the one of the key goals here.
But I’m not really satisfied on the whole project.
Hi,
good job,
my favorite is the second image.
what’s with the glass (excluded intentionally or as sliding fully open)?
(buildings next to this are both fine)
note
IMHO, either way (none or fully open) a poor choice in this case - it feels to me that it’s taking too much of that pleasant urban & homey element in this ambience away
at least arch glass, slightly closed or open, diverse… would IMHO, add a lot to that naturalistic civilized modern urban impression… you know the feel of a force field, invisible security, hi-tech protection, all that is glass… pleasant to have and to look at
but abundancy makes it too common and it’s value invisible to the naked eye but it is one of most magical materials in human history… thus easily missed where, when not present
I got what you mean. To be honest, I don’t know why it didn’t pick so many reflections, probably because the exposure of the interior and exterior was almost the same. But yeah, I agree with you, it would have been better with some more reflections baked in.
It’s just a box with a standard glass material on by the way.
