strawberry

hi all,

like to hear your professional comments on that.

thanks and best regards

Jonas

well, if you’re going all out for hyper realism! - the red looks a little plasticy is all i can say

well it s unbellievebly awesome!!

nevertheless yeahhh the red can be tweked…
congratulations

It looks great but i find it should be less reflexive especially at the edges and reflections should be a tad sharper…

hi, thanks for your comments.

yes its right, reflctions its a hard thing, because there are 1000s of different looks.

the client wants to have it looks “delicious”.
but the border between delicious, and plastic is very thin :?

Well I’d eat it  !

When I first saw it I thought the reflections were too sharp but having seen the reference photos I think it’s spot on.

Dan

That’s a beautiful image Jonas, but if I’m going to be ultra picky then I have to agree that the edge reflections could be a little less. Even so, it’s still amazing! Great work!

Rob.

thanks

yeah have to tweak a bit, but time… :?

nice work!
I think it looks a little too perfect to be realistic… but on the other hand it looks way more delicious than the referencephotos  so I guess thats exatcly the look your client wants.

I thought panthon’s reference photo looked pretty tasty to me. Made my mouth water.

Now if someone would render some chocolate on that thing…

It looks a little plasticky but not too bad. Maybe a noise map or something to break up the specular a bit. Also, the berry looks a little small. The reference photos look “plumper” and something that you just want to sink your teeth into.

Can you talk a little about how you acheived the surface of the berry-are the seeds and depressions modeled or part of a displacement material?

Strawberry is looking good. I agree with dlparisi on the noise map to help fix the plastic look and give your strawberry a little more irregularity.

yes its all modelled, based on a geosphere. i try’d with with displacement, but couldn’t get the uvw map to work fine. try’d with unwrap but…
the seeds placed with particle system, emitted from selected faces.
but the shader took a while for looking like this. yes i’ll try another noise on it , maybe it helps (there are in total allready 4 noise modifyers on it and noise/texture bump).

thanks again

PPT ?

Wow that looks awesome.

I think the fruit itself isnt too far from being just right. The leaves bug me tho. To clean cut and look like those fake leaves.

But still.. wow looks awesome.. can you show a lowpoly of the strawberry and maybe a wireframe.

Great stuff.

no its qmc/LC,

yes you’re right daforce, the leaves bugs me too, next version

here’s a wireframe

best greetings
Jonas

Cool thanks.

Whats your lighting setup for that shot?
And the floor I assume it curves up at the back?

yes, simple cylinder with a bend as floor.
there are 3 Vray lights, one from the back, front and for the background. and one spot for highlights.

Very nice

THanks for the info

@ jonnybefree

Good job, really good job.

Looking at the references and the render, here are my 2 cents.

On the photos:
I think the material (the body) is looking darker in the thicker zone, just a little but it is noticable.

So a blend mat with a darker tone can do it easily over the mat it has now.
