Summed Area + Unexpected Error Occurred 2009 1.5Sp2 64Bits

Hello Vlado…

We’ve got a heavy scene with hundred of bitmap (max file approx. 250Mo + 1.5Gb bitmaps)…

It always return many backburner errors (Unexpected Error Occurred…)

When I turn of Bitmap Filter no more problem… all works fine.
I’ve got many bitmap heavy (4090x4096) with summed area filter on.

I haven’t try to switch all bitmap to Area but I’ll try later (don’t have time now…)

Is-it possible or is it something else ???

Scene Setup :

VRay Universal Settings
No GI (Only direct lights)
Only vray light

The only specificity is DMC Sampler setting :
Min Sample : 16
Multiplier : 30

Dynamic Memory Limit : 3072
Default Geometry : Auto

Memory consumption : 5Gb to 6Gb

All render node gets 6Gb RAM.

I can’t post or send you anything because of NDA…

Best regards…

well as far as i remember, summed area uses 4x as much memory per bitmap compared to “none” filtering. area 2x as much.
(i’m not sure if the factors are right)
it’s most likely a memory problem.

Ok but RAM usage doesn’t go over 6Gb… so there is enough ram to render…

You can try turning on the 3ds Max Bitmap pager and see if this helps.

Best regards,
Vlado

I try with all filter to area and no more problem too…

I’ll try the bitmap pager later because i don’t understand a think with Bitmap pager

Best regards…
