Take a look at this iamge. I want to make the shower curtain more translucent. I should be seeing some detail through the other side.

Any ideas about how to creat a translucent material?

look in the manual under the section of vray 2 sided material. that should give you the results you want im guessing

Yep, I used it on some curtains. Looks great.

I dont see the vray 2sided material inthe material/ map browser. I see the vray material and vray light but novray 2 sided. what am I missing?

If you want to see trough the curtain, I would use only refraction with some subtle glossiness.

You are missing 1.5?

Yes refraction - or just opacity map with some falloff.
