How do I create a material that is transparent like skim milk in a thinner wall section, but much less transparent in a thicker wall section. It must be white like the color of milk also.

Hi,
If it’s transparency you want I think you should play with the Fog settings and Refraction glossiness in the Refraction layer. If you’re looking for translucency (amount of light varying with thickness), it’s also on the Refraction layer.
Both concepts are well described in the PDF manual that you can download here on the site, and there are example scenes to demonstrate.

Nope Fredrik, you’re pretty much right there so no worries
I will add that white translucency is one of the harder materials to set up. Its very context specific (ie you wouldn’t be able to move it from scene to scene without some modification) and also a fog value of white is essentially no fog, so you’ll have to play with slightly off white creams. Play around a lot and try to post some results with your material settings.
