V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max Final!

Grats Vlado and the rest of the team to get the release done! Now I just have to wait for our reseller to catch on.

Hello,

How do the people who purchased 2.0 between 4 August 2013 and the date of the V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max official release get our free upgrade?

“Users who purchased a new V-Ray 2.0 for 3ds Max commercial license between will be eligible for a free upgrade. They will receive 1 V-Ray 3.0 Workstation license and 2 Render Node licenses.”

We will need the .wbc file from the license server, so that we can send you the new licenses. You can email that to vray@chaosgroup.com

Best regards,
Vlado

Great! I just received a newsletter from vray.info about it! Congratulations to Chaosgroup team!

Good stuff. Just waiting on the Maya release :stuck_out_tongue:

Congratulations Vlado and the Chaosgroup team!!

I’m a little confused on the pricing. Do we need to purchase a a render node license for every slave on our farm now for Backburner or are the priced nodes just for distributed rendering?

Render Nodes 3.0 can be used for both DR and Network Rendering (Backburner, Deadline, Qube, etc.) Depending on how many nodes you need, there are bundle options available. You can check out http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/vray\_licensing.html#tab3 for more details. Be sure to click on the Upgrade Tab if you’re looking to upgrade.

We also have an upgrade Calculator available for anyone looking to configure the best option. http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/UpgradeCalculator.html

And be sure to email sales@chaosgroup.com if you have any other questions.

Yes. You need to buy a license for every node (Distributed or Network Rendering). Additionally it appears you need to buy a node for every workstation you want to render with (previews etc.). 3.0 will not render by itself. You must purchase at least one node license. Someone correct me if I’m wrong .

erased post.

That’s not fully correct, please let me clarify:
→ with 1 license of V-Ray 3.0 Workstation for 3dsMax, you can use the graphical user interface of V-Ray, create/edit V-Ray shaders and render using the production or RT engine.
So an artist who needs to use V-Ray 3.0 for 3dsMax only on his local machine would only require a workstation license - and the entry point for a brand new license or even upgrade is even lower than before (ref. new license pricing info or upgrade pricing info)

→ if extra rendering power is needed for distributed or network rendering through the use of additional render servers, only then each render slaves requires access to a V-Ray 3.0 Render Node license.

Congratulations on the release!
Is there a list of known issues that you still need to address? Or do you consider it to be ‘bug-free’ to the best of your knowledge? I’m just wondering about when we should roll it out in our office. With Autodesk and Microsoft products the rule of thumb is one service pack absolute minimum

Hehe, I have never ever seen bug-free software in my life  There are a few minor issues that we are aware of and which we hope to patch relatively quickly. Nothing that would be a show-stopper as far as I know though.

I’m just wondering about when we should roll it out in our office. With Autodesk and Microsoft products the rule of thumb is one service pack absolute minimum :smile:It is a wise approach, certainly

Best regards,
Vlado

Congrats to the entire team!
When can we expect to get the upgrade to 3.0? I’ve bought 2.4 during the promotion period and I wasn’t able to find any info on this.

I placed order early in the morning on cgarchitect for upgrade and waiting for the new license  GO TEAM VLADO

Where can I find my dongle serial number? I am trying to buy from cgarchitect but it asks for the serial.

printed on the dongle  also in wibukey control panel skip two first numers before “-”

GOT IT  thanks guys

Hi V-Ray Team!

you might want to remove the Beta from the “About V-Ray”

Thanks for the clarification.
