V-Ray render quality between different 3D application!

Many 3D Studio Max users insist that the render quality of V-Ray in 3D Studio Max is better, faster and more realistic than the render quality of V-Ray for SketchUp! Is that true? Does the host application has effect on the render output for the same render engine? I am specifically referring to rendering the same architectural model in both applications, so I only care about architectural visualization.

I don’t know about Vray for Sketchup but at least on Vray for Cinema4D we have performed many tests comparing to the Max version and the output is virtually identical (the speed was actually a few seconds faster on C4D), my guess is that as long as you use the same core and the same features it will be the same for other platform too. I think that Vray for Max user base is simply more prepared since there are more training resources and more experienced users.

Thanks .. so should I assume that the rendering quality and speed on SketchUp will be virtually identical to the one on 3DS Max?

My guess is yes, though I have never use Vray for Sketchup… maybe something is missing here and there but nothing that prevent you to get good results. The thing is that there’s no “magic’ button that make a render a good one, the code it’s all mathematic and algorithms and that doesn’t change over different platform.
My advice is to learn to use your tools properly, then no matter what you use you will always be able to get nice renders.
If this can help people said for many years that Cinema4D version wasn’t able to get quality render too, but I always managed to get decent render, you can see same samples on the links below or by looking for my renders here on the gallery.

Thank you, sirio76 for your feedback .. I appreciate it. I will definitely take a look at the links.
