VR Not Working "Searching for head mounted display"

As of today, when I try and enable VR mode, the “searching for head mounted display” message comes up but nothing happens. It worked fine yesterday, so something must have changed overnight.

I’m using an Oculus Rift, and updated my nvidia drivers to see if that makes a difference to no avail. I also downloaded and installed the latest preview version of Enscape with the same problem, all of which leads me to believe that it’s something that’s changed in either Windows 10 or Oculus updates.

Anyone else having this problem?

And it appears it likely is an Oculus issue - lots of people having trouble today - https://twitter.com/natemitchell/status/971428374982705152

Here is a guide from Oculus on how to fix it: https://support.oculus.com/217157135500529/

@TowerPower did you ever resolve this issue? As of lately, I am having the same difficulties.

It started working again, yes. It’s been so long now though, I don’t remember how. I think they (Oculus) fixed the issue, since it was something a lot of people were having difficulty with at the time.

Hey @kacie.hokanson , thanks a lot for your post. Welcome to our forum!

Could you please make sure you’ve done the following beforehand:

  • Make sure that the latest Oculus runtime has been installed and you’ve followed all the required steps of the Oculus device setup.
  • Open the Oculus App and select Settings. In the General settings section please activate the Unknown Sources option (Fig 1.7)
  • When you turn on your Oculus you should now be able to see the Oculus Home Scene.
  • Now you can go ahead and enable Enscape’s VR mode via the Enable VR Headset button on the Enscape ribbon. (Fig 1.7)

If that doesn’t help, please kindly send in some feedback as described here, and also add your forum name or some other reference so that we know it’s from you!

Hi !

I have the same problem on Revit, with a HTC Vive…

I have this message : “Searching for HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAY”.

Best regards

Maxime

Having the same problem more then one year later. I hope this time Enscape comes with a solution. Maybe it helps if Enscape contacts the people at HTC?

Trying to render a building in Revit and receiving this issue? anyone know whats up??

I’m having the same issue in 2024. VR works on my tower, but I want to take it mobile with a laptop and Enscape on that machine can’t find the headset.
