Please verify that the render node machine could access V-Ray License Server by:
Opening web browser on the render node and trying to get license server status as follows: http://serverName:30304
Where server name is the IP address of the machine where V-Ray License Server is running and the dongle is plugged in.
If you are not able to get the status most probably there is a firewall rule blocking the connection.
You should make sure that V-Ray License Server is added in windows firewall exception on the machine it is running.
I tried updating to the latest version on all machines/nodes, still nothing renders though the license issue seems to be resolved…
Also, I can access the licence server status from the nodes, as you requested.
This is all that happens now;

Error 10060 means that the render-node machine could not access Vray License Server.
If you have any anti-virus software please turn it off temporary before the next test.
Please log on one of the slave machines, start 3DSMax and try to run local V-Ray rendering without using Distributed Rendering.
If 3DSMax is installed in trial mode and it has been already expired you could start a command line rendering via the following command:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014>3dsmaxcmd.exe example-file.max
Alright, so my colleague can render to the render nodes without a problem, so it seems the issue is local to my workstation. I still have no idea what could be causing it though.
Just tried it with anti-virus disabled, still the same problem.
I assume the trial version of max on the node isn’t a problem, given that my colleague can render to it just fine.
How have VraySpawners been started, as a windows service or manually?
If they are launched as a windows service please stop the service, then start it manually and run another test.
Send us a screen-shot of the license server status page.
Make sure that all machines (workstation and slave) have installed the same Vray 3.xx.xx version.
Vray 3.x indeed comes with one Render Node license but this license is also engaged when you are rendering locally.
You could of course exclude the local machine from the rendering and use one slave machine for DR but you won’t be able to render with multiple machines unless you have multiple Render Node licenses.
