I’m trying to use a vraylight material as a coat material in a blend material such that when the shader is in shadow, the vraylightmaterial kicks in. (ie an earth model where I want the city lights to light up when in shade).
It appears that the vraylight material has no effect whatsoever when used as a coat material. Is it not supported?
edit : I’ve managed to get this effect to work fine by using a standard blend material.
It’s not just the Vray Light Mtl that appears to have no effect with the Vray Blend mtl. We have also noticed even a stnd Max mtl with self illumination does not appear to work either!
Anyone else found this? Any suggestions Chaos team?
Currently the VRayBlendMtl only works with VRayMtl, VRayOverrideMtl, VRay2SidedMtl and other VRayBlendMtl materials. We will add the VRayLightMtl too for the next RC. However, we cannot make VRayBlendMtl to work with standard materials.

For the time being, you can use a standard Blend/Shellac material, with VRayBlendMtl as one submaterial, and VRayLightMtl as the other.
